Music I & II

Sing the music of the Church, including the Ave Maria. Learn the tones of the musical scale, the building blocks of all music. Develop and refine your God-given instrument, your voice, for His greater glory and the edification of the Body of Christ.


Story Time

Hear stories of the many saints who have sung chants in praise of God, as well as exploring the rich meaning and mysteries of the Angelus and other sung texts.

Scriptorium

Enter our monastic copy room to carefully study and try your own hand at creating chant manuscripts. Become a master of neumes (ancient musical notes) and how to sing them.


Art

Explore the terminology, history, and spiritual meaning of sacred art and apply this knowledge to the creation of an original work using advanced materials and techniques.


Latin

Learn the meanings of all sung Latin texts from the Angelus & Vespers through games and stories, connecting key Latin vocabulary with English derivatives.


Major & Minor Scholas

Sing the music of the Church in large (major) and small (minor) choirs. Develop and refine your God-given instrument, your voice, for His greater glory and the edification of the Body of Christ.

  • Are snacks & lunch provided?

    Snacks: Bananas will be available at every snack period. Campers who would like additional snack are welcome to bring it with them.


    Lunch: Full-day campers are encouraged to bring a lunch with them. Please note that no refrigeration or food-warming appliances are available.


    Water: All campers are encouraged to bring a full bottle of water with them daily.

  • What should campers wear?

    Campers should wear clothing that is both appropriate for worship in the church, while also giving adequate comfort for running and playing. Closed-toe shoes are particularly encouraged.

  • Is there a final performance?

    The sung 12 noon Angelus and 3:30pm Vespers prayer services are open to families, friends, and the general public each day.

  • What is the family maximum cost?

    If a family's total cost of Chant Camp exceeds the listed family maximum amount ($500 before May 1, $600 on/after May 1), they are encouraged to choose this single, lower fee. This maximum is reached by:


    • 2 Full Day Campers
    • 1 Full Day & 2 Half Day Campers
    • 4 Half Day Campers
  • Is Chant Camp open to non-Catholics?

    All are welcome to attend Chant Camp, regardless of their religion. 

  • How can I support the mission of Chant Camp?

    Each year we have a dozen or more campers who attend Chant Camp on a full or partial scholarship. Donations to the Chant Camp Scholarship fund can be made here. To request a scholarship for your camper/s please contact Sharon Mays at shc.chantcamp@gmail.com.
